Your Voice

There are always a few people in your life whose words mean more than everyone else’s. Whose encouragement and criticism you really take to heart. Those people have been given a certain power through their words to impact your life. As I suddenly became aware of these influential people in my life, God started speaking to me about the power I have through my own words. He pointed out to me that just as He has placed people to speak into my life, I have been placed into other’s lives to do the same.

God really expanded this revelation in me when He reminded me of all the stories in His word about ONE woman or ONE man who made a difference in their world, and in many cases OUR world. Most of the stories we read in the bible aren’t about groups of people, they are about individuals and the mark they made because of their faith, courage, obedience and beliefs. Their lives were significant because they chose to use their VOICE. We all understand that our ultimate call is to impact our world for Jesus; to share the good news that Jesus saves with those around us, but our VOICE is something that I think is often misunderstood and underestimated.

Our VOICE is not just the actual sound that we make when we speak or sing, but it is also our opinion, our faith and, our beliefs. You may not be a great orator or an evangelistic preacher, but you can encourage others around you who are going through a hard time. You might not be a writer, but you can sing a song that moves others to salvation or healing. Rather though spoken or written word, God has given us a myriad of ways for us to use our VOICE. I believe that God wants us to use the gift of communication in every way possible to bring hope to this world, to speak life and peace into the hearts of the people around us. He wants the truth to be heard, and we have the ability to make that happen.

I know that many of us are convinced that our one life doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, but God has given all of us the power through His word to speak light into the darkness. A single whisper breaks the silence. A beam of light dispels the dark. One VOICE makes a difference. Make it loud.
