Barry D. Earns GMA Dove Award Nomination
TAQA RECORDS AWARD-WINNING PIANIST – BARRY D. – NOMINATED FOR GMA MUSIC AWARD FOR “INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR”
New York, NY – (March 9, 2009) – Coming off of a Stellar Award nomination for “Instrumental Gospel CD of the Year”, Taqa Records award-winning pianist/producer/songwriter Barry D. is now honored with a Dove nomination for “Instrumental Album of the Year” at this year’s GMA Music Awards. Born to Play was produced by Barry D. and co-mixed by Barry D. and Josh McDonnell (Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Queen Latifah). It was released nationwide on October 30, 2007 and is the follow-up to his 2005 Dove Award-nominated release Handprint. The GMA Music Awards will take place in Nashville, TN on April 23, 2009. The award show can be watched live on the Gospel Music Channel.
Barry D. has been acknowledged in various areas including work with many up-and-coming jazz giants in New York’s ritzier clubs and attention from some of the biggest names in the industry. Barry D. has performed at Carnegie Hall and has shared the stage with performers such as Phil Collins, Natalie Grant, Nicole C. Mullen, Jaci Velasquez and more. He has won awards such as the Billboard Songwriting Contest and was a finalist in both the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the 2007 Independent Music Awards.
