Joey Witham - The Great Homesickness
Producer: Casey Diiorio & Joey Witham Joey Witham is the latest up and coming worship leader to emerge onto the indie Christian music scene. Witham has been writing worship music for 12 years, and he has been utilizing that talent as a full-time worship leader for the past four years - most recently spending his time as the worship leader for Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Witham’s latest eight song EP, The Great Homesickness, is being released by South Pawl Records and through Infinity Music Distribution - two partnerships which will hopefully further expand Witham’s reach as a musician. The Great Homesickness is a great introduction to the artist/worship leader. His music tends to straddle the fence between catchy pop/rock and authentic worship. Songs like “Speaks Aloud” and “Send Your Glory” are great worship anthems that would fit right at home on the set list of today’s worship leaders. Meanwhile - cuts like “Face of Grace” or “Coldplay and Stars” feature Witham as more of a rock ‘n roll artist - catchy as they may be. Musically, Witham recalls the likes of Starfield or Charlie Hall - commercially viable yet with a worship edge. Overall, The Great Homesickness does a good job of introducing Witham to the Christian music scene.
