Stellar Kart - Life Is Good: The Best of Stellar Kart
Producer: Information not provided It’s always puzzling when a band only releases two or three records, and then they (or perhaps their record label) then releases a greatest hits collection. Stellar Kart has only released three records at this point in their career (All Gas. No Brakes, We Can’t Stand Sitting Down, and last year’s Expect the Impossible) - and already Word/Curb/WB Records is releasing the group’s first best-of collection. Most of the time this signifies the end of a record deal or something else major - but no word has been spread about any of that - so the fans of Stellar Kart are left scratching their heads for the most part over what seems like a pretty bone-headed idea. Life Is Good: The Best of Stellar Kart features every song ever released to radio from the group (but how many of these were actual, bonafide hits? Sure, songs like “Life Is Good,” “Me & Jesus,” “Angels In Chorus,” “Jesus Loves You,” “Innocent,” and “Shine Like the Stars” are all appropriate choices - but others like “Finish Last,” “Finding Out,” and “I Give Up” all seem to be awkward choices for a greatest hits collection. This disc also features three unreleased songs - “Lifeguard,” “Centerfield,” and “Punk the Halls” - all goofy songs that contain no real spiritual merit - but fans of groups like FM Static or early Relient K will surely enjoy them. Overall, Life Is Good: The Best of Stellar Kart does feature many songs that Stellar Kart has made popular over the last few years - but still feels like a needless entry into the group’s history at this point.
