Fauxliage - Fauxliage

Producer:  Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber
Record Label:  Nettwerk

Bill Leeb and Rhy Fulber are two musicians who made a name for themselves in the mid-90’s with their band Delerium - though it was usually with the help of a special guest vocalist of some kind.  Having used Sixpence None the Richer’s Leigh Nash a few times, the duo wanted to utilize her for the group’s entire new album.  However, since Nash’s own sense of musicality was starting to shine through, the group re-emerged as Fauxliage to release this album through Nettwerk.  Leeb & Fulber’s ambient and electronic based sounds mellowed out Nash’s vocals a bit and her songwriting continues to be abstract.  The disc is very ambient - relying on programmed beats and electronic keyboard sounds throughout.  The album contains some real haunting numbers like “All the World” and “All Alone”.  Lyrically, as stated before, Nash’s writing continues to remain pretty abstract - shying away from any definite Christian themes - with the exception of “Rafe” and “Draw My Life” - both songs providing bits of hope.  Overall, fans of Leigh Nash will be attracted to this disc just for Nash’s distinctive vocals and prevalent songwriting.  Fans of more interesting musicality and more overt Christian lyrics probably won’t find much to like here.
