Number One Gun - The North Pole Project
Producer: Jeff Schneeweis
Number One Gun’s career has taken a slightly different path than most bands. The band came onto the scene a couple years ago on Floodgate Records and eventually moved on to a more fitting label - Tooth & Nail. From there they released their sophomore outing, which had a much stronger response from critics and fans of Christian rock alike. The band was moving into a more mainstream rock sound as opposed to their indie rock days, and thus accumulating more fans every day. The band eventually called it quits just when they were gaining a strong amount of momentum. Lead singer Jeff Schneeweis decided to continue to pursue his own music and started making music under the moniker “The North Pole Project”. Tooth & Nail quickly approached Schneeweis about sticking around and creating music with Tooth & Nail - only remaining under the banner of Number One Gun. Schneeweis agreed and thus we have the releasing of Number One Gun’s third national release - The North Pole Project. The North Pole Project is a rousing modern rock record that pretty much abandons the indie sounds of days past. Schneeweis’ vocals are much more in your face and show a great range - something past efforts have lacked - and that coupled with the fact that Schneeweis played all the instruments on the record makes for an extremely impressive album. The album is full of energy with a very mainstream rock sound - most notably on tracks like “Million”, “Thank You Ending” and album opener “The Massacre.” The North Pole Project is easily Number One Gun’s most accessible and enjoyable album to date - though fans of the band’s earlier music might not enjoy the full shift to a more mainstream sound.
