Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.  Yes, that Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.  You know them.  You love them.  It’s hard to deny their presence in the Christian music and church world over the last couple decades.  They’ve released 26 albums and won numerous Grammy and Dove Awards.  They’ve been one of the most major influences on church music in the last 20 years, but the real question is, do they still have that charisma and charm they’ve been known for?  The answer is yes and no.  Like past live albums from the choir, I’ll Say Yes continues in the same vein as before.  They’ve got their uplifting ballads and worshipful uptempo numbers that never quite leave the box they’ve made for themselves.  The really finer moments on the disc are the more worshipful moments, as opposed to the more “grand” choral arrangements.  Songs like “I’ll Say Yes”, “Hallelujah to the King”, and covers of Chris Tomlin’s “Holy Is the Lord” and Darlene Zschech’s “Worth Is the Lamb” are really the stand-out moments for the choir.  That’s when this multi-racial choir really surges.  Their other more church-based, choral moments are nice too, but at times start to resemble their earlier work a bit too much.  I’ll Say Yes, which is the choir’s debut for Integrity Music, will once again resonate with fans and music ministers all across the country.  This choir is good at what they do, much due to the arrangements and directing of Carol Cymbala.  Overall, I’ll Say Yes doesn’t really break any new ground for the group - but if you’ve made this many records and been doing it for as long and as well as the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir has - one really can’t get too upset with it.  If it’s the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir - you know it’s gonna be good.
