Sarah MacIntosh - The Waiters, The Watchers, The Listeners, The Keepers, & Me
Producer: Jonathan MacIntosh Anyone who followed modern rock in the Christian music scene knew about the release of 1999’s With Abandon by then “it” group Chasing Furies. They also knew of the group’s disbanding not long after the album released to much critical acclaim. Since then, many Christian music connoisseurs have mourned the loss of such an amazingly talented band and have longed for the day that the band may get back together. Though this isn’t the band getting back together, it is the next best thing. Sarah MacIntosh (the former lead singer and guitarist for the Chasing Furies) has released The Waiters, The Watchers, The Listeners, The Keepers, & Me, her latest solo album. Musically and lyrically, this is a bit of a departure for MacIntosh for those expecting With Abandon Vol. 2. Where With Abandon was much more poetic in it’s lyrical imagery, The Waiters, The Watcher… is much more vertically oriented - acting as much more of a praise & worship record. This probably has more to do with the fact that MacIntosh has been acting as a worship leader for her home church over the last decade. Also - musically this album is more alternative pop/rock - though MacIntosh’s impressive vocals are spot on this time around as well. Don’t fret too much, because this album isn’t anything like what you’re hearing from Chris Tomlin or Israel & New Breed - it’s modern worship with a strong alternative bent that MacIntosh pulls off extremely well.
