Inhabited - Love

Female-fronted rock band Inhabited started making inroads in Christian music when their independent release started getting significant airplay on Way-FM (the industry’s leading CHR radio network).  Soon after that, the band released their national debut, The Revolution on Fervent Records (home to BarlowGirl, Big Daddy Weave, and By the Tree).  That album was a nice enough debut - but really failed to set the band apart from other female-fronted rock bands like BarlowGirl, Plumb, Evanescence and others.  Inhabited has since left that left and joined up with 7 Spin Music to release their national follow-up Love.  Teaming up with uber-producer Monroe Jones (Third Day, Chris Rice, Watermark), Inhabited’s Love is a definitive step in the right direction - showing a much more distinct sound this time around.  Sure, Love still recalls other female-fronted rock bands this time around as well - but shifting to a more No Doubt or Garbage feel as opposed to the generic sounds of BarlowGirl.  In fact, this album just feels a bit more open and carefree - almost feeling as if the band has stopped taking themselves so seriously this time around.  This can be most notably seen in songs like “Are You With Me”, the Gwen Stefani-esque “Hush” or the fun “Respect.” Love is just a much stronger album from start to finish than their debut - even when falling into typical Christian cliche’s (such as “Love” or “Song to the Fatherless").  Overall, Love shows that Inhabited isn’t just your typical female-fronted Christian rock band.  They are starting to show how good they really are.

Purchase LOVE.
