Jared Anderson - Where Faith Comes From

Producer: Pete Kipley
Label:  Integrity Music

You may not know who Jared Anderson - but then again you may.  Anderson has been a part of Desperation Band and worship leader for New Life Worship in Colorado Springs.  He’s also penned a couple of hit worship songs like “Rescue” and “Amazed.” Anderson released his debut solo record with Integrity Music to light fan fair.  There just wasn’t much there to separate Anderson from the already crowded modern worship field.  Despite that, Anderson is releasing his sophomore solo album - Where Faith Comes From.  The new album finds the singer/songwriter again going the modern worship route - recalling the likes of Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall, or Lincoln Brewster, with a bit more of an under-produced sound and raw emotion.  There’s less gloss here than what would found on other Integrity releases.  In addition, Anderson has taken a much more pop-friendly route - musically recalling the likes of Nate Sallie or even Daniel Powter at times.  Anderson doesn’t have a lot of strength in the vocal department - so much of Where Faith Comes From‘s appeal comes from his songwriting and catchy pop hooks.  None of this is more apparent than on “Finding You” or “Glorified” - two pop songs with the piano out front and center and Anderson’s creative hooks to carry the song along.  Anderson’s ballads are also pretty good here too - the extremely personal “This Is Life” probably wouldn’t fit well in a corporate setting, but “Ready Now” seems taylor-made for large worship settings.  His inclusion of “Promises” gets a nice facelift as well.  Overall, fans of creative pop music with a noticeable worship slant will find a lot to love on this record.  Anderson has created a record that will appeal to fans of catchy, mainstream pop and worship - not unlike he’s done with his work with Desperation Band.  Where Faith Comes From is a worthy inclusion in the modern worship catalogue.
