Children 18:3 are one of the latest bands to sign with Brandon Ebel’s Seattle-based Tooth & Nail Records.  The band is made up of three home-schooled siblings from Minnesota - not exactly the typical setting and background for a punk rock outfit.  Produced by Steve Wilson (Hawk Nelson, Jonzetta), Children 18:3’s debut project is a contrast to today’s punk rock scene - staying away from the more pop oriented acts like Blink 182, Hawk Nelson or Relient K.  Rather, they harken back to the original days of punk rock - recalling the likes of The Clash or today’s Panic! at the Disc and shades of the Foo Fighters.  Swapping back and forth between male and female vocals give the album a boost in appeal - and songs like “All My Balloons”, “You Know We’re All So Fond of Dying”, and “The City” all prove that Children 18:3 is definitely a different cut from the rest of the already crowded punk rock field.  Lyrically, the band tries to remain a true rock band - creating songs that merely reflect their life and the spiritual aspects of it.  There’s nothing overtly “Christian” about their songs, yet at the same time, it’s easy to see spiritual aspects sprinkled throughout the album - like the emotionally charged “Even Sleeping” or “Final”.  Overall, fans of authentic punk rock should find much appeal in Children 18:3’s debut recording for Tooth & Nail Records.  This band is definitely cut from a different cloth than most of what’s called punk rock these days.
