Andy Hunter - Colour
Producer: Robbie Bronnimann & Andy Hunter
Andy Hunter has definitely made a name for himself outside of Christian music. Although his debut record, Exodus, was released to Christian retail through Rocketown Records and hailed by the critics - he didn’t necessarily catch on as the next big “it” artist. However, other outlets quickly latched on to the artist’s music and the this programming expert soon saw his songs being featured on TV shows, movies, video games, and more in addition to being a mainstream on the club and dance circuit. It’s been three years since Hunter has released anything to the public, so fans and critics alike have been clamoring for something from the DJ. Hunter is now releasing Colour through Nettwerk Records (Leigh Nash, Matt Wertz, Jars of Clay), and it is worth mentioning that this new release was well worth the wait. Colour isn’t necessarily reflective of today’s dance/electronica movement - as it is sometimes very understated and ethereal rather than pounding beats and bass lines - most notable on tracks like “Shine” and “Fade”. Also - Hunter’s brand of music is much more spiritually oriented - recalling everything from praise ("Stars"), encouragement ("Together"), and more. However, nothing on the disc is too forthright to offend the non-believer and drops seeds of promise and hope into an otherwise dark area of the world known as the club scene. Overall, Colour should definitely whet the appetite of those wanting more spiritually infused dance and electronic music. Hunter is definitely an artist in every sense of the word - and Colour reflects that exponentially.
