P.O.D. - Where Angels & Serpents Dance

image

Producer:  Jay Baumgardner
Record Label:  INO Records/Columbia Records
Website:  http://www.payableondeath.com

With a reunited lineup and new record label, the boys from the south are back! With songs about war, peace, hope, and Kalifor-eye-a, there is sure to be something even the smallest fan would love. They dropped the rapping, but the hard rock, punk, and reggae are still intact.  Marcos Curiel comes back to the family, and it feels like old times.  Jason Truby was a great guitarist and added his unique style to Payable on Death and Testify, but for the long time fans there was a feeling that someone was missing at the dinner table. Marcos rejoins his family and brings a whole feast of riffs with him.  This whole album is full of Marcos’ flavor and his guitars really drive the album and steal the show at times.  Where Marcos drives the album with his guitar playing, Sonny keeps it honest with they lyrics and vocals.  What makes Sonny a good songwriter is his heart. He is genuine, straight forward and that comes out in not only the lyrics but his vocals.  He is not a great vocalist, but you know he is real and his mad onstage energy level comes through on the recording.  It’s because of this that he really connects and strikes a chord with the audience.  With these two elements of Marcos’s gifts and Sonny’s vocals, When Angels and Serpents Dance really grab a hold of you and take your for an enjoyable ride you will want to get on time and time again.
