Crabb Revival - Runaway Train
Producer: Not Provided
When the Crabb Family finally came off the road last year, many wondered where each member would go and how their respected ministries would take place. For Adam Crabb and Terah Crabb Penhollow - it meant joining forces and forming Crabb Revival. Adam and Terah are joined by former Crabb Family instrumentalists Zach Smith and Micah Schweinsberg and Crabb cousin Jedidiah Richardson. Runaway Train is probably the closest to the Crabb Family sound that we’ve heard so far from any former member - but still heading down a similar path already started by the Family. Everything here is still well within the “Crabb” sound that we’ve all come to love - maybe even more Southern Gospel than the last two Crabb Family records (Blur the Lines and Letting Go). This is especially seen on cuts like the strong “The Journey”, “Only a Man”, “Ornament of Grace”, and the country-tinged “Both Sides of the River”. The group also knows how to push the boundaries as well - especially on the pop flavor of “Smiling Down On Me” with it’s Avalon-styled background vocals. "You Amaze Me” sounds like it was pulled straight from the Chris Tomlin songbook, while “The Power of One” is not unlike what you’d hear from MercyMe or Steven Curtis Chapman. The most surprising track from the groupo will probably come from the Southern-rock infused “Carry On”. The group is great at it all, and they shouldn’t have any problem finding a mix of fans. Vocally, Adam and Terah probably turn out some of their best sounding material to date. Adam, especially, shines on the tender ballad “Rescue Me”, while they both shine on the first singles “You Amaze Me” and “The Journey”. It’s easy to see that the legacy of the Crabb Family will remain firmly intact in Crabb Revival. Their debut CD reminds us of the old group while picking up where the group left off at the same time. There’s no doubt that this group will be around for a very long time.
