A lot has happened to Ten Shekel Shirt since the release of their last record, Risk, five years ago.  Lead singer and group owner Lamont Heibert felt like music was over for him, and he decided to make his life more about change - focusing on social injustices around the world such as human trafficking, exploitation, and prostitution.  Heibert founded the non-profit Love146 and was even mentioned in GQ Magazine and won a MySpace Impact Award for his work.  However, Heibert, being the musician that he is, couldn’t keep his new perception on life to himself.  Using the moniker Ten Shekel Shirt as a way to get his music out, Heibert is releasing Jubilee.  Musically, Jubilee feels like a companion to the band’s last album Risk.  It’s very much a continuation of those thoughts and musical patterns only sounding a bit more like a singer/songwriter outing rather than a full-on rock band.  Musically, Jubilee sounds like what is being put out by popular bands like The Fray or Snow Patrol - Brit pop/Rock with a more acoustic approach.  Past efforts for Ten Shekel Shirt have always been more vertical oriented - but Heibert changes the focus this time around and Jubilee is more of a call-to-action of sorts - which Heibert identifies with more these days.  All of this is a really nice change of pace for the band - unfortunately there’s not a lot here that is going to separate Ten Shekel Shirt from other similarly minded bands.  The newly-focused lyrics will probably be the real draw here, as musically Ten Shekel Shirt just isn’t raising the standard on this release.
