Remedy Drive - Daylight Is Coming

Remedy Drive is the latest signees to Word Records (Nicole C. Mullen, David Phelps, Mark Schultz, Stellar Kart) and are made up of four siblings - the Zach brothers.  Hailing from Lincoln, Nebraska, Remedy Drive formed their catchy, pop/rock style on the indie scene for five years before gaining the attention of major labels.  The band is now releasing their debut national release - Daylight Is Coming.  Remedy Drive comes out blazing, thanks to production work from producer/songwriter extraordinaire Ian Eskelin (Stellar Kart, All Star United, Krystal Meyers).  Daylight Is Coming is chock full of radio-friendly, driving pop songs - especially on cuts like “Daylight”, the opening cut “Stand Up” and rollicking “Heartbeat”.  Musically, Remedy Drive sounds a bit like Needtobreathe or Jackson Waters (two other Word Records bands) with shades of All Star United (much thanks to Eskelin for those influences).  Despite the clever melodies and catchy rhythms - Daylight Is Coming does suffer from a bit dissimilarity between tracks - and often one song ends without the listener realizing as they fade into one another pretty seamlessly.  Lyrically, Remedy Drive fits well within the current landscape of Christian music - nothing overtly preachy ("Hope" and “Daylight” for example), yet a message of hope and forgiveness displayed as well (see “Valuable” or “The Sunshine Above the Weather") - again - not at all unlike what is heard from similar bands like Jackson Waters, Needtobreathe, or Seabird.  Overall, Daylight Is Coming is a surprisingly good album - definitely above the pack for a new artist.  Remedy Drive is a new band to watch - that’s for sure.

Purchase Daylight is Coming.
