Brenton Brown - Because of Your Love
Producer: Brenton & Jude Brown
Brenton Brown isn’t likely a name that most people who follow Christian music are familiar with - though they are more than likely familiar with his songwriting. Brown got his start working in the Vineyard UK church and had a big hand in the now historic Hungry record. Since then, his music has been picked up by a good number of very popular worship leaders. His songs most people know - like “Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing)”, “Lord Reign In Me”, and “Because of Your Love”. That last song is included and the title track for Brown’s second solo album - a follow up to 2006’s highly praised Everlasting God. Because of Your Love is a much more stripped down effort compared to his last recording - featuring what feels more like a five-piece worship band set up - and it works very well for this album. Because of Your Love features a bevy of special guests - including Paul Baloche, Leeland’s Leeland Mooring, Kathryn Scott, and Matt Maher. That’s not bad for a worship artist most people haven’t heard of. Because of Your Love is mostly Brown covering his own songs - both new and old - in this new, stripped down setting. “Because of Your Love” just feels right here, while “Adoration” is set to be the new big anthem of the church. Brown’s older material - particularly “Holy” - shines really well on this album - and will hopefully be picked up by more churches and worship leaders after hearing the song in this setting. Overall, Because of Your Love is an excellent follow-up to 2006’s Everlasting Love. It shows Brown in somewhat of a different setting - as well as his beloved songs. Time will tell if it makes him a leader in today’s worship scene like Chris Tomlin, Paul Baloche, or Hillsong. RATING:
