Third Day - Live Revelations

image

Producer:  Third Day
Record Label: Essential Records

Ever since Third Day released a live DVD companion to the popular Offerings recordings, the band has released companion live recordings for virtually every album they’ve released since then (with the exception of Wherever You Are).  Revelation is no exception as the band is now releasing Live Revelations - a CD/DVD combo featuring music from last year’s highly successful Music Builds tour with Switchfoot, Jars of Clay, and Robert Randolph.  The DVD is not so much a look at the music - rather the band.  It focuses on getting to know each member and how the tour affects each individual.  There are live performances included - such as “Cry Out to Jesus,” “Thief,” and “Call My Name.”  The CD features nine songs that are from the Revelation recording - including “Otherside,” “This Is Who I Am,” “Slow Down,” and fan favorite “Run to You.”  The songs that are included were recorded at different venues (four different venues in total) - so the continuity isn’t as smooth as something that was all recorded in one venue - but they do a good enough job of splicing the performances together.  The album also includes guest spots from Robert Randolph (on “Otherside”) and Switchfoot, Jars of Clay and Randolph on “When Love Comes to Town.”  Overall, the price is great for the included DVD with all of the content provided.  Hard core fans of the band will eat this up, but those looking for what they’ve heard on the radio probably ought to stick with the fantastic Revelation CD.
