Sarah Reeves - Sweet Sweet Sound

Sarah Reeves is the latest signee to EMI Christian Music Group, and much like Philmont, Abandon, and Danyew, the label group is releasing a six-song debut rather than a 10-12 song full length recording.  Sarah was discovered by Christian music favorite Plumb after some of her songs ended up in the singer/songwriter’s hands.  After signing Reeves to the label, Sparrow then sought out to help her craft the best songs possible - teaming her up with some of Nashville’s brightest songwriters such as Jason Ingram, Ed Cash, Matt Bronleewe, Marc Byrd, Cindy Morgan, Ben Glover and others, and with them, Reeves wrote an impressive 70 songs for the debut album.  Teaming up with Ian Eskelin (Francesca Battistelli, Krystal Meyers) and Matt Bronleewe (Jars of Clay, Rebecca St. James), Reeves is ready to introduce herself to the Christian music marketplace.  Sweet Sweet Sound starts off with the Plumb-esque “These Words of Mine (Intro)” which immediately bleeds into the first full-length track “Fresh Anointing.”  The listener’s attention is immediately grabbed by Reeves’ sweet, ethereal vocals - reminiscent of acts like Plumb or a young Twila Paris.  “Fresh Anointing,” as well as other cuts like the rocking “Awaken” and “Let Us Rise,” are modern pop/rock tunes that should find a place at Christian radio where acts like Rebecca St. James, BarlowGirl, and Plumb have been played in the past.  Her more tender songs also make for solid moments on the disc - such as the much praised debut radio single “Sweet Sweet Sound” and quiet closer “My Savior.”  Overall, Sweet Sweet Sound is an excellent introduction to an artist that promises to be another act with much potential for greatness from Sparrow Records.
