Kristian Stanfill - Attention
Producer: Matt Goldman Sixstepsrecords has had quite the successful run so far. The label launched not only the Passion series over 10 years ago but also has successfully helped mold the careers of some of today’s most prominent worship leaders like Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, and Charlie Hall. The popular label is now releasing its first new artist signing - Kristian Stanfill. Listeners first became acquainted with Stanfill on many of the Passion tours - including serving as lead worshipper at Passion ‘06 and on the Passion World Tour. Kristian made his recording debut on the much praised Passion: Everything Glorious as well as The Best of Passion (So Far) and Passion: God of This City. Produced by Matt Goldman (Underoath, Copeland), Stanfill’s debut Attention does a great job of doing just as the album suggests - garnering the attention of those looking for the next great worship leader. It’s not like there’s a whole lot here that’s all that much different from his contemporaries - though Stanfill resembles more the atmospheric worship of acts like Delirious? or Charlie Hall as opposed to the more radio-friendly and slick worship sounds of Chris Tomlin or Phillips, Craig & Dean. Songs like “Wake Up” or “You Will Always Be” are great examples of the more introspective worship at work on the record. There are a couple really great up beat and in-your-face worship stuff, such as “Alive & Running,” “Beautiful Jesus,” and “Kingdom.” Overall, Stanfill’s Attention may not be the most diverse and dynamic new outing from a worship leader - but it’s definitely a strong enough debut for most listeners to sit up and take a listen.
